MSBA Letter
Massachusetts School Building Authority Letter
Dear Committee Members,
The MSBA Executive Board met this morning and formally approved the Memorial School project. We were awarded a reimbursement rate of 51.11% and they approved the cost of $26.9 million. That figure is about $1 million short of the figure that Paul Griffin’s [Project Manager] cost estimator came up with because MSBA does not include the cost to abate and demolish the old building as a reimbursable cost. It was announced at the meeting however that the MSBA is reviewing that policy so it is possible that some or all of the abatement and demolition cost will be added back into the figure.
I spoke to Kevin Buckley [Architect] and he suggested that we have a Building Committee meeting so that he can go over the details of the approval and so that we can discuss how to proceed from here. We decided to meet Thursday night, April 16 at 7:00 pm in the School Committee Room..
If there are any questions please send me a note, otherwise I will see everyone on April 16.
